Product Description
These rare woolen anklets were unique to the Australian Military Forces in the early part of WW2 and were on issue in the Middle East until replaced by the standard heavier canvas anklet/gaiter. Later they were used by the VDC (Volunteer Defence Corps). These anklets were issued to BROWN, AUBREY RODGER, Leading Aircraftman, 339 RADAR STATION, R.A.A.F and are so marked. Used condition. One of the photos also shows Australian soldiers in Egypt in 1940 and the type of anklet can be clearly seen on the soldier behind the Bren Gunner. The item in the photo is the item you receive.
