Product Description
Genuine and now rare Australian Army WW2 half button front other ranks khaki/green airtex cotton combat shirt as used in the Pacific. These shirts are now rare as they were either damaged/destroyed in service or were later kept by the soldiers upon being discharged from the Army. The shirts were then worn in civilian life for work etc. The date is no longer visible but other shirts that we have had from this lot were all dated 1944. Good used condition with all buttons. Size appears to be large with around 44 inch chest. Our old Movie Guns rental stamp is on the inside near the collar. (See photos) These shirts generally started life in khaki drill colour and were later dyed by the troops in the field. My father told me that they were issued dye on the troop ship on the way to New Guinea and when the issue ran out the remaining soldiers were told to dye their shirts in the tea in their billy cans.
