Scarce Australian WW1/2 issue khaki drill fatigue hat. Maker code markings and dated what appears to be 1942. Issued initially to new recruits for training and prior to issue of standard Service Dress Uniform. Also used for fatigue/work duties. Commonly referred to as the "Giggle Hat" due to its lack of style especially when worn together with the giggle jacket. The suit was regarded by the troops as similar to a clowns suit. Used condition with repairs. Size 7. This was the forerunner of the Giggle Hat or Bush Hat that was used by Australians in the field in Malaya and Vietnam.
