This canvas cover was made in 1945 in Australia but does NOT fit the standard SMLE No.1 Mk3 303 rifle. It is believed to have been made in anticipation of the introduction of the Australian No.6 Jungle Carbine or the Experimental Shortened & Lightened No.1 Rifle. Unissued condition. Marked "M.H. & Co -1945 " (Michaelis Hallenstein & Co) and with the D /|\ D Australian service markings. Has external pouch for accessories etc. The cover in the photo is the cover you receive.
